Bashir Miandad passes away

Former first class cricketer Bashir Miandad and elder brother of former Pakistan Captain and Director General, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Javed Miandad, died here on Thursday at Aga Khan Hospital. Bashir had suffered a serious accident resulting in head injuries, near Hyderabad, while returning from Sehwan Sharif on October 21 and since then he was on ventilator.
He was around 59 and has left behind a widow and two sons to mourn his death. Bashir Miandad was the elder brother of international cricketer Anwar Miandad and first class cricketer Sohail Miandad. He played five first class games scoring 60 runs, taking no wicket for 28 runs.
Chairman PCB Muhammad Ijaz Butt and the management have expressed deep sense of grief on the sad demise of Bashir Miandad. "PCB fully shares Javed's grief and prays that his brother's soul rests in peace. May Allah almighty give him and his family strength to bear this huge loss," said a statement.
KCCA President and Secretary Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, Sirajul Islam Bukhari, Chief Selector Iqbal Qasim, former Pakistan Hockey Captain, Islahuddin Siddiqui have also expressed their condolences on the sad demise of Bashir Miandad. According to family sources, Bashir Miandad will be laid to rest at Sakhi Hasan graveyard after Isha prayers on Thursday night.
