Broad-based plan for uninterrupted electrification launched in AJK
AJK government has kicked off an integrated plan to ensure the uninterrupted power supply to the consumers besides for the electrification of rest parts of the liberated territory including those falling in far-flung mountainous terrain, official sources said.
The State Electricity Department sources told APP here Thursday that the AJK government has determined the priorities in the next fiscal year (2009-10) budget for the speedy progress of electricity sectors in AJK including the populous and industrial Mirpur division besides completing the ongoing development projects of the current financial year.
The sources said special attention was being given to ensure the smooth and stable supply of electricity to the consumers across AJK without any discrimination. They said that for this purpose additional transformers were being provided to the electricity department for installation at the recommended sites in the area.
Referring to the under-construction Mangla Dam Raising Project the sources said that the gigantic project would, indeed, usher in the new era of speedy progress and prosperity through bringing about green revolution in the country besides bringing about exceptional socio-economic uplift and prosperity in Azad Kashmir especially in Mirpur district.
They said that the attractive package of incentives for compensation of the affectees of the Mangla Dam raising project will not only benefit the old and upcoming dam affectees but would also open up new avenues for the speedy progress and prosperity in this district.
The sources pointed out that the AJK government has already chalked out a broad-based plan to electrify all the remaining portion of Azad Jammu Kashmir including remote and far-flung areas by the end of next year. Meanwhile the government has directed for the swift execution of fullest concentration and active vital role by the line staff of the Electricity Department to discourage the line losses for the economic stability and survival of the power sector in the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
