Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain here on Tuesday took oath as confirmed judge of the Lahore High Court (LHC). Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif administered the oath to Justice Iftikhar Hussain in a simple but impressive ceremony held in Committee Room of the high court which was attended by the judges, law officers and senior bar members.
Justice Iftikhar Hussain from the office of district and sessions judge was elevated as an additional judge of high court in 2002 for two years after which his services were extended for another year till 2005.
However, he was not confirmed and reverted to the previous post of sessions judge. He had approached the supreme court seeking his appointment as permanent judge in the high court. President Asif Ali Zardari had appointed Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain as judge Lahore High Court following a Supreme Court's judgement in a constitutional petition filed by Justice Iftikhar.
