The Chief of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) said that America and Israel were conspiring to deprive Pakistan of its nuclear assets, by destabilising it socially, politically and economically. He expressed his views, while addressing party members at anti-US rally held here on Sunday.
Strongly criticising the US policies the JI leader asked the government to halt the Swat operation and demanded to solve the issues amicably through the parliament without further bloodshed. Furthermore, he said that number of innocent people have lost their precious lives in the operation and hundred of thousands of people have lost their livelihood and got refugee in the adjacent areas.
Syed Munawar Hassan, criticising India, said that it is equally responsible for the destabilising the country as it had never accepted the existence of the country.
Speaking about prevailing law and order situation in Karachi he said there is need to take comprehensive measures to curb violence and ensure peace there. Moreover, he said that May 12 would be observed as 'Black Day' in entire Punjab.
Naib Amir of JI, Liaquat Baluch, on the occasion criticised the policies of the government and asked to stop taking further harsh measures against militancy in NWFP, particularly, in Swat, as it would aggravate the situation, instead of reviving peace.
He appealed to the people to contribute in collecting funds for the displaced persons of Swat. Syed Amir ul Azeem and other leaders of the Jamaat also spoke on the occasion.
