Speakers at a condolence reference held in the memory of late Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed of Supreme Court of Pakistan paid rich tributes to him. The reference held at Dorab Patel Auditorium of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP). Speakers and friends of the late judge highlighted his personality and his great qualities as a human being.
Dr Pervez Tahir, an old friend of Ahmad, shared the memories of Ahmad's student life. He said that Ahmed never 'ideologised' things. He said that a week before his death Ahmed said to him, "I and some others friend kept you very close to ourselves so that after our death you could make a speech about our life. At that time I never thought that I would really have to deliver a speech about him".
He said that Ahmad was a very good man and trusted friend. Eminent lawyer, rights activist and Ahmad's cousin Hina Jillani said that he was a dear relative, great friend, good colleague and good lawyers. She said he never appeared before him in the court.
"He had a very rounded personality. He was one of the persons with whom you could talk on any issue without getting on your toes and he would understand. He is one of the people in my family whom I will always miss," she said. Ahmad was the first Vice-Chairman of the Sindh Chapter of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
