The scholars while remembering noted religious scholar Dr Abdul Wahid J. Halepota, founder of the Department of Comparative Region and Islamic Culture, University of Sindh paid great homage on his great services for the promotion of Islamic studies and research work produced by him.
The scholars said that Dr Halepota was a scholar who throughout his life works for the promotion of Islamic studies and helped and encouraged young scholars. They were speaking in a seminar on life and scholarly works of Professor Dr Abdul Wahid. J Halepota (Dr A.W.J Halepota) organised by Department of Comparative Religion and Islamic Studies, University of Sindh at Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium on Monday.
Former caretaker Sindh Chief Minister former justice Abdul Qadir Halepota was chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Dr Halepota was very kind to him and other relatives. He said that that Dr Halepota was a very simple man and a genius scholar who always helped to young scholars and others.
He said that he was associated with Dr Halepota from the age of 13 and he had take good care of his education and training. He said that once he brought him to Karachi when he was teaching Arabic and Persian at S.M College and introduced him with Allama I.I. Kazi and Elsa Kazi who at that time were living in Karachi.
He said that when Allama I.I. Kazi took over charge of the University of Sindh, Dr Halepota left him at house of Allama Sahib for his service and for learning from him. He said that Dr Halepota always respected his teachers and always teaches youth to pay respect to their elders and teachers.
He said that Dr Halepota was a true Muslim and worked for the promotion of Shah Waliullah philosophy. He said that Dr Halepota belonged to the lower class family of the province, therefore, he was very careful about the poor people of Sindh and particularly of his area.
He said that Dr Halepota also worked for the education of the poor people of his native area and in this regard he opened various schools. He said that we as family of Late Halepota are very grateful to him who helped us in education, training and provided a great identification.
