Urs of Shah Bhittai: foolproof security measures to be ensured
The D.C.O. Matiari, Baqa-ullah Unar, who is as also the Convenor of the committee for the 265th annual Urs Celebrations of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A) has said that foolproof security measures would be ensured to provide safe, secure and pleasant atmosphere to the devotees during the coming 3-day annual urs celebrations of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A) at Bhitshah.
This he observed on Sunday, while presiding over a meeting at Bhitshah Rest House to review the on-going arrangements, assigned to different departments and organisations in last meeting held on 1st January 2009. Syed Mazhar Ali Shah Naz Latifi, Syed Ali Bukhsh Shah, Syed Faqir Ali Shah, all EDOs of District Government Matiari, representatives from the Provincial Government, HESCO, T&T and other departments attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, DCO Matiari Baqa-ullah Unar said that keeping in view present scenario, security measures at the urs celebrations of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A) were being tightened. He said that more than one dozen close circuit cameras would be installed at different places of the mela, 2 to 3 dozens metal detectors would be made available with the police personnel, number of Police pickets and police personnel with uniform and in civil dresses would be deployed at different places. Besides, intelligent network would also be enhanced. He said that the police has also been directed to enforce smooth traffic flow during the urs celebrations.
He said that in order to meet any eventuality, operation theatre in Bhitshah hospital would be established and made functional before the commencement of urs celebrations to undertake emergency operation if any. He said that blood bank with blood screening facilities would also be established during the annual urs celebrations. The DCO Matiari also directed the health management of the district to ensure well equipped fixed and mobile medical camps with availability of doctors, para-medical staff and especially life saving drugs in ready position. He also asked them to arrange blood screening centre for the people especially for detecting Hepatitis B & C.
He directed EDO Works & Services to complete on-going repair work of all roads within one week. He also directed the EDOs Revenue and CDD to co-ordinate and arrange the exhibition of local handicrafts. It was also decided that Bhitshah Town would be exempted from load-shedding during the urs celebrations. He directed the HESCO management to implement the decision. He directed the Revenue officers and Auqaf departments to arrange standby Generators to meet any electric short fall if any on account of technical grounds.
DCO Matiari directed the management of Auqaf Department to complete the repair & renovation work of shrine of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A) before the commencement of the urs. He directed the managements of Public Health Engineering Department and TMA to ensure cleanliness, supply of drinking water and lavatory facilities to the devotees. He directed them to de-silt all open Nullah of the town so that there could be no incident of over flow of filthy water during the urs celebrations. The meeting also reviewed the on-going arrangements for holding national Adabi conference, Sugharan-gee-Katchery, and Malakhro, Cattle Show, Agriculture Industrial exhibitions and presentation of Latif Awards and expressed its satisfaction.
Unar announced provision of one clean machine for Dargah and Rs 0.2 million from the account of Zila Nazim Matiari for giving cash awards to the vocalists of Shah-Jo-Kalam.
