Khalid Shahanshah gunned down

Bilawal House Security In-charge Khalid Shahanshah, who was also personnel bodyguard of slain Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in the jurisdiction of Darkshan police station here on Tuesday.
Police sources said that three unidentified attackers in a white car attacked Khalid's car at around 2.40pm in front of his house, 81/1 Khiyaban-e-Bukhari, Street 24/25, DHA, leaving him critically injured.
He was immediately rushed to Ziauddin Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, they said. Police said that attacker managed to flee after committing the offence. Police said Khalid along with his friend Manzar was on the way to home from Bilawal house, when he was attacked. Police said that deceased had received four bullets in his upper torso.
Later, his body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy. The body of slain PPP leader Khalid Shahanshah was taken to his residence from Jinnah Hospital after post-mortem. The funeral prayer of Khalid Shahenshah, Security Officer will be offered on Wednesday, at 1 pm, at Bilawal House. The funeral prayer will be offered at Ground at Bilawal House, later the deceased will be bury at graveyard in Azizabad, said a statement issued by PPP Media Cell, Bilawal House.
It said that the sisters of the deceased and other relatives will reach metropolis on July 23, from across Pakistan and outside of the country to attend his funeral. Police has started investigation after registering FIR, No 344/08.
Soon after getting the news of attack on Khalid, Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Adviser to CM Rashid Rabbani and other PPP leaders, besides a large number of party activists rushed to the hospital.
The minister termed it as a target killing and the continuation of the series of killings in Karachi. He maintained that it was conspiracy to destabilise the PPP-led government and adding no one will be allowed to destabilise the government. PPP leaders said that the deceased was an important leader of PPP and had rendered great sacrifices for the party. Home Minister constituted a high-level body to probe into the murder.
