Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh, former Justice Abdul Qadir Halepota has said that government was trying to provide all basic necessities including safe drinking water to people. He said that 70 percent diseases were caused by polluted water.
He expressed these views during a briefing given to him on "Provision of Safe drinking Water" here on Sunday at circuit house, Hyderabad. Caretaker CM said that all provinces were taking steps to provide safe drinking water. He hoped that after competition of ongoing projects provision of clean and safe drinking water at UC level would ensure.
During the briefing, Director General Public Health Engineering Sindh apprised the chief minister that as many as 1108 water purification plants would be installed in the province for provision of clean drinking water to the people of the province. He further said that the installation of the plants would be completed by October 2008. District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Secretary Local Govt Sindh, DIG Hyderabad, DCO Hyderabad, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
