Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh, former Justice Abdul Qadir Halepota, and his 14 ministers took oath at a simple ceremony at Sindh Governor House on Monday. Governor Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan administered the oath. The names and portfolios of the caretaker ministers are as follows:
Akhtar Zamin Naqvi, Home Affairs; Yousuf Farooqui, Finance; Irshad Memon, Religious Affairs and Auqaf; Ejaz Shah Shirazi, Food and Agriculture; Nadra Panjwani, Women Development; Amber Raza Nancy, Tourisn, Culture and Youth Affairs; Fauzia Lari, Health; Arif Abbasi, Labour and Transport; Jalal Shah Jamote, Population Welfare and Communication & Works; Karam Ali, Environment and Information Technology; and Shujaat Ali Baig, Education.
Three ministers inducted at the last moment were Dr Abdul Karim Mahar, Sibhjatullah Shah Rashidi and Iftikhar Ahmed. Portfolios of these ministers would be announced later.
Those who attended the ceremony included Speaker Muzaffar Hussein Shah, Deputy Speaker Rahila Tiwana, Corps Commander Lieutenant General Ahsan Azhar Hayat, IGP Sindh Ziauddin, Sindh Ombudsman Yusuf Jamal, DCO Karachi Javed Hanif, provincial secretaries and elite of the city.
On the conclusion of oath ceremony the caretaker chief minister said that his work was to ensure fair, free and transparent elections in the province. He said he would work for the cause of democracy and ensure that its aims and objectives were pursued in a peaceful manner. He said he would maintain continuity in the current policies and see to it that economic activities continue.
