Polish MPC may hike rates

Two Monetary Policy Council (MPC) members signalled on Friday another interest rate rise this year was likely, with one saying it would probably come this month as inflation is expected to move above the central bank's target.
Halina Wasilewska-Trenkner, a hawkish policymaker on the 10-strong rate-setting panel, said the council could even be close to unanimity on its rate decision this month and hinted at more hikes afterwards as well.
"When it comes to my personal opinion, I would say the probability (of a rate hike in November) is higher than 50 percent," Wasilewska-Trenkner told radio PiN in an interview.
