Zhenhua Port Machinery, a major Chinese maker and exporter of container cranes and other port equipment, said on Tuesday it had secured a $200 million order from Dubai Ports World (DP World). The order for 15 container cranes and other equipment is scheduled for delivery in 2008 and 2009, Shanghai-based Zhenhua said in a statement.
Zhenhua is gaining more business overseas because it has been improving the quality of its products, Chinese media have said. In April, Zhenhua said it had won a $250 million order from Denmark-based shipping company A.P. Moeller-Maersk Group.
In February, Zhenhua said it had won a $200 million contract to supply port equipment to South Korea's Hanjin Shipping Co Ltd. The equipment will be delivered between 2007 and 2008. The domestic A-shares of Zhenhua closed at 20.67 yuan ($2.72) on Monday, up 9.3 percent over the past month and up 109 percent over the past year.
