Religious scholars should play their part in developing interfaith tolerance and harmony, for national solidarity and unity. This was said by Provincial Minister for Human Rights Makhdoom Ashfaq while talking to a 10-member delegation of Ulema at his office, according to a handout here on Saturday.
He said the government was ensuring all utilities and facilities to the people with uplift projects that covered education, health, communication and social welfare sectors, while effective working of government departments was also being ensured.
Religious scholars and Ulema are important community leaders who should help to bring about positive social changes by teaching tolerance and harmony, he said, adding they should urge the youth to concentrate on education, and create human rights awareness in the society.
He said Pakistan was the centre of various civilisations, and we should celebrate this diversity and work towards a tolerant, progressive and enlightened country. On this occasion religious scholars lauded government's efforts to ensure minorities welfare and interfaith harmony.
