Lawyers observe token strike

The lawyers on Saturday observed token strike against suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan here in the provincial metropolis and did not appear before the courts for one hour. The office-bearers of the bar observed token hunger strike camps. Activists of political parties, human rights organisations also joined these camps.
They chanted slogans against President Musharraf, Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, and MQM chief Altaf Hussain. They also expressed solidarity with the lawyers in their struggle for independence of judiciary and reinstatement of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
