Opposition leaders alleged that the government was deliberately dragging the issue of Jamia Hafsa and Faridia seminaries for their own benefits. They said that the government was planning to defuse the political atmosphere that may evolve after the APC in London on Saturday.
Memona Hashmi, MNA of PML-N, Rana Mehmood-ul-Hassan MNA, Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori of MMA, Major Mujib-ur-rehman (Retd) of Tehrik-i-Insaf said that the APC, the devastation of flood and Supreme Court's upcoming judgement were creating headache for Musharraf-led government. Therefore, their priority is to divert the attention of the masses and media to bigger issues.
Referring to the government's intention to use this issue for western support, they said that the government is trying to take mileage out of such issues but this would not possible because the western countries had already observed the failure of the government.
They said that this was the first time in history of Pakistan that any government imposed curfew in capital city of the country. They said the government was solely responsible for the losses of innocent lives during the operation against the seminaries.
