Rs 32.455 million to be spent on water supply, drainage schemes
Under Chief Minister's Accelerated Development Programme Rs 32.455 million would be spent on the Urban Water Supply and Drainage Schemes in Dubai Town and Hanjarwal for providing clean drinking water and sanitation facilities to the people of suburb areas of Lahore.
Punjab Public Health Engineering Minister Sardar Hassan Akhtar Mokal said this while talking to different delegations here on Friday, disclosed an official. He said that water supply and sewerage schemes in Dubai Town Raiwind Road would be completed at a cost of Rs 18.747 million, while Rs 13.708 million on the provision of water supply to the Hunjerwal area.
According to him, there would be no compromise on the quality of pipe to be used for these schemes and best quality and durable pipe would be laid so that it could not be leaked. The basic cause of water pollution is the substandard pipes, which had been used in the past and such pipes completed their life very early and due to their leakage the sewerage water merged into the water supply lines.
Provision of healthy atmosphere and clean drinking water is the top priority of the present government and it would complete its responsibility in latter and spirit and no slackness by any department would be tolerated.
