Wateen Telecom and Bank of Punjab (BoP) has on Friday singed an agreement, under which Wateen would provide its data network services through its high-tech and modern WiMAX and optic fibre networks to the BoP.
Pervez Shahid, Board Member of Abu Dhabi Group, and bank's President Hamesh Khan signed the agreement in the presence of senior officials of both Wateen and the BoP. On the occasion, Hamesh Khan said that it was an honour to sign the agreement with Wateen, which was the most innovative company in Pakistan, and was introducing the technology for the first time in the country.
He averred that initially under the new IT system, the bank's office would be connected with its 124 branches in the country, and later it would be expanded to the rest of its branches, 271 in total. He hoped that the partnership between the two would grow and strengthen with the passage of time.
Pervez Shahid praised the BoP in general and Hamesh Khan in particular for taking the bank to new heights. He said that Bank of Punjab was the first institution of the Punjab government to sign an agreement with Wateen for the adoption of new technology.
Wateen Telecom was providing state-of-the-art wireless WiMAX technology nation-wide. Providing end-to-end communication solutions for corporate sector, Wateen has recently joined hands with the country's leading and progressive bank, The Bank of Punjab. It would provide its data network services through its high-tech and modern WiMAX and optic fibre networks to make the bank's head office 'a communication hub' for all its 124 branches and regional offices in the country.
