At least 17 people were killed when a booby-trapped car exploded in a Kurdish village north of Baghdad on Friday, an Iraqi police official said. "A man blew himself up in a car at a market in the village of Ahmud Mares south of Jalula, killing at least 17 people and wounding four others," said Ali Hucine at Khanqin police station in Diyala province.
"The explosion took place at around 9:00 pm (1700 GMT) and also badly damaged nearby businesses," he added.
