A meeting of National Assembly's Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs on Thursday discussed the measures taken by the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold fair and free general elections.
The Secretary Election Commission informed the committee that 45,000 display centers, showing computerised electoral lists, have been established for inspection by the public. He said in wake of the recent rains and floods, the date for enlisting of names, objections and corrections have been extended for 15 days.
He informed that the registration officers, assistant registration officers and display center information officers have also been authorised to verify the forms of those persons who want correction in the list. The corrected names of the voters will be enrolled in the final electoral lists after fulfilling the legal requirements.
