Rally held against suspension of CJP

The lawyers on Thursday observed strike and also held a rally to protest against suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Political workers, human rights activists, teachers, doctors and students joined the rally.
The members of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and Lahore Bar Association (LBA) after their general body meetings reached at the main gate of the Lahore High Court and proceeded on the Mall Road. The workers of political parties including PML-N, PPP, MMA, Labour Party, Khaksar Tehrik, Isteqlal Party, Pakistan Isteqlal Party, Awami National Party and Pakistan Qaumi Party also joined the rally.
The participants who were holding banners and placards chanted slogans against General Parvez Musharraf, Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and MQM leader Altaf Hussain.
President Lahore High Court Bar Association Ahsan Bhon while addressing the lawyers in front of Punjab Assembly said that they will continue their peaceful protest until rule of law, independence of judiciary and restoration of Chief Justice of Pakistan. The people hailing from different walks of life joined the lawyer's struggle.
Later, the lawyers and other associated protesters disbursed peacefully and returned to Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) premises where they sat in hunger strike camps.
