The government has approved a new 'competition policy and law in Pakistan', which would be either promulgated through a Presidential Ordinance or presented before the Parliament. Chairman Monopoly Control Authority (MCA) Khalid A Mirza expressed his views in an interview with Business Recorder on Thursday.
The government has the authority to promulgate an Ordinance for conversion of MCA into Competition Commission, he added. He said that there is no specific timeframe for the implementation of the new law.
Once the government would implement the law, the MCA has made all arrangements for its effective enforcement. Chairman MCA stated that the authority is actively engaged in the finalisation of rules and regulations required for the implementation of the new law.
