Sugar prices were higher on the grain market on Thursday amid subdued business as most of the buyers kept on the sidelines due to lack of fresh interest, dealers said. Sugar prices were modestly higher as the low type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2600 and the good type was up by Rs 45 to Rs 2725, they said.
Other varieties did not show any change during the trading, they said. On the seed side, cottonseed oilcake with bag low type shed Rs 20 to Rs 350, the best type, however gained Rs 30 to Rs 600 due to rising demand, they said.
On the cereal side, wheat old and new gained Rs 35 to Rs 1285-1300, they said. A solo deal was seen on the rice sector where Irri-6 Sindh low type shed Rs 10 to rs 1610-and inferior type was unchanged amid slow trading, they added. Grams prices maintained the overnight levels in process of trading, they said.
