Capital Development Authority (CDA) had recently invited applications for pre-qualification of the interested parties for the construction of a 5-star hotel on plot 63-F, located on Nazimuddin Road, Blue Area, sector F-7.
The widely publicised quarter-page ad appeared on May 12 in the national press, according to which the 69,000-sq. ft. plot was to be sold through open auction held among pre-qualified parties. Last date for submission of pre-qualification documents was June 18.
However, just ten days before the due date, on June 8, a brief ad has appeared in the newspapers that the CDA's earlier ad for pre-qualification had been withdrawn, without giving any reason thereof or details whatsoever. It seems, instead of open auction as per the rules, now the valuable commercial plot will be discretely allotted to a favourite party that may have manoeuvred the later action on the part of the CDA.
Will the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) take cognisance of the matter, to find out under what circumstances the earlier ad has been withdrawn by the CDA, and to ensuring that there has been no malafide intention on the part of the government?
