A consultative workshop on environmental journalism will be held in the metropolis from July 9. The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Pakistan, is holding the two-day moot under the Indus for All Programme, in collaboration with the European Union (EU).
A spokesman for the WWF Pakistan said here on Tuesday that the workshop will involve an exposure visit to Kinjhar Lake on the first day and a full-day workshop at a local hotel on July 10.
It was pointed out that the purpose of the workshop and exposure visit is to acquaint the journalists with the existing environmental issues through underlining the significance of the critical ecosystems and natural resources of Pakistan in general and the Indus Eco-region in particular.
The event would also prove to be an interactive forum to develop media action plan for highlighting conservation issues and discuss the possibilities of an incentive mechanism for encouraging media's effective role in this national cause, it was further pointed out.
