Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League and Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Mushahid Hussain Syed said that no time frame has been set for finalisation of provincial autonomy bill as the government was taking all stakeholders on board.
Talking to mediamen after attending a roundtable conference on provincial autonomy here on Tuesday, he said the process would be completed in two phases. In the first phase, the sub committee headed by Wasim Sajjad would submit its report to PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, he said, adding, upon the basis of this report the bill would be moved in the parliament.
He said in the meanwhile Minister for Inter Provincial Co-ordination Salim Saifullah Khan would continue consultations with all political parties. The suggestions forwarded by MQM and other political parties were also being considered. Mushahid said response of leadership from various political parties on the issue was encouraging.
The government has opened doors to all valuable suggestions in this regard and would consider them for incorporation in the bill, he added. He also lauded media's role in initiating debate over the issue and said it was possible due to broader policies of the government.
