Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the flood/rain-affected areas will be declared as calamity-hit areas. "In am conducting personal visits to assess the losses and damages caused by torrential rains and flood in Kamber-Shahdadkot district," he said while talking to local journalists at Moen-jo-Daro Airport on Monday.
He said that all out efforts are being made to rehabilitate the flood victims in Kamber-Shahdadkot district, especially in Taluka Qubo Saeed Khan, and an amount of Rs 2,000,000 has already been released for the relief and rescue work of the flood victims. He also said that more funds, if required, will be provided to the district government.
He further said that the required helicopters will arrive on Monday in flood affected areas to take part in rescue operations. He said that this is a natural disaster and floodwater comes from Balochistan areas to the district Kamber-Shahdadkot. He said that the Punjab government also announced an amount Rs 50 million for victims in the province of Sindh.
While replying to a question the chief minister said that the Shahdadkot-Qubo Saeed Khan remained the constituency of PPP leadership but now it is the constituency of Pakistan Muslim League and we are serving the people without any discrimination.
The chief minister further said that the federal as well as provincial governments were ready to help flood victims.
The Sindh Minister for Irrigation Sardar Nadir Akmal Khan Leghari told that after 1976 this is the first time to observe such flood and torrential water which comes from Bolan and Jhal Magsi areas of the Balochistan province, and due to extra pressure of water on the F.P. Bund the Kamber-Shahdadkot district and some parts of Dadu district also affected.
Sindh Minister for Power & Relief Haji Altaf Hussain Khan Unar, Zila Nazim Larkana Mohammad Bakhsh Arijo, DCO Larkana Muhammad Naseer Jamali, Chairman Sachal Ittehad Saifullah Abro and large number of elected representatives were present at Moen-jo-Daro airport.
Later, chief minister Sindh visited relief camps of flood affected areas of taluka Qubo Saeed Khan and took an aerial view of flood affected areas.
The chief minister also distributed eatable goods/relief items among flood victims, and also announced an amount of Rs 2,000,000 for flood victims of taluka Qubo Saeed Khan areas.
