The Administrative Judge of Anti Terrorism Court (ATC), Karachi Division, Justice Mrs Qaiser Iqbal, on Saturday remanded three suspects in Nishter Park bombing case to judicial custody up to July 9. Suspects Mufti Mohammad Zakir Hussain Siddiqui and Sultan alias Mehmood and Muhammad Amin are stated to be the activists of the banned organisation Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ).
The suspects were produced before the AJ of ATCs with completely covered faces for JC amid normal security. According to police, the suspects along with their other accomplices co-accused Amanullah alias Mufti Ilyas, Qari Abid Iqbal and Khalid alias Abrar had planned the Nishter Park suicide bombing.
Investigation Officer of the case, Sarfraz Ahmed submitted the JC request before the ATC's AJ. It may be noted here that an accused namely Rehmatullah has already been remanded to Judicial Custody by Judicial Magistrate-I (West). IO also mentioned, in the remand application, the name of alleged suicide bomber as Mohammad Siddique.
About 54 people, including Sunni Tehrik leaders Abbas Qadri and Iftikhar Bhatti, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Hafiz Taqi were killed while about 120 others were injured when the blast occurred near the stage.
The FIR of the case was lodged under Section 302, 324, sections 3,4 Explosive Substance Act (read with Section 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act 1997) at Police Station Soldier Bazar, by Mohammad Altaf Qadri. ATC's AJ has directed the IO to submit challan against the accused on July 9.
