Owing to successful educational policy of the Punjab government, the enrolment rate of students has increased by 21 percent in schools while the provincial educational budget has also been enhanced by 11 times during the last four years.
Punjab Minister for Power, Chaudhry Armghan Subhani, stated this while addressing the annual prize distribution ceremony of a private college, here at Model Town on Saturday. "The government is attaching top priority to the promotion of education, as it is a prerequisite for a prosperous future of the country. After coming into power, present leadership paid due attention to the promotion of education and tuition fee was exempted in 63,000 primary schools of the province", he added.
He said that the government has declared education up to matric level free while a monthly stipend of Rs 200 is also being given to girl students in 15 backward districts of the province who show more than 80 percent attendance. He said that two universities are being set up on Sialkot-Lahore Motorway with the co-operation of Germany and Sweden where international standard educational facilities would be available to the students.
