Rawalpindi Police have intensified security after receiving the directives from the Interior Ministry regarding the suicide attacks. Uniformed and plain cloth police and other law-enforcement agency personnel were deployed at Airport, Railway Stations, major business centers, mosques, Imambargahs and other religious places, cinemas and main crossings.
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Muravet Shah when asked about the intensified security measures told reporters that after receiving the information regarding the suicide attacks in Islamabad, the Interior Ministry has provided some information to Rawalpindi police in this regard.
He said that police have decided to keep complete vigil on suspects. "We will monitor the places where close circuit cameras were installed to avert any untoward incident", he added.
"We will utilise all available resources and energies to avoid any untoward incident in the city. For the past three days, every individual in police department was on its toes as high alert was signalled", Shah said adding that all exit and entry points to Rawalpindi are under watch.
The CPO said all the police stations have been directed to watch hotels to keep complete record of the people staying there. Hotels have been asked to provide record to police on daily basis and immediate arrest order of any suspects were also issued. He said that so far no suspect was arrested.
