Majid Qadri, Madressah and Mazar Trust on Wednesday refused to accept Rs 22.5 million compensation offered by City District Government Karachi's (CDGK) for proposed demolition of said Mosque in PIB Colony, which comes under Lyari Expressway project.
When the matter was taken up by SHC's division bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ather Saeed and Justice Qaiser Iqbal, EDO Revenue CDGK Saleh Ahmed Farooqui appeared in court on notice and submitted a offer letter. The letter submitted on behalf of CDGK, stated the City Government was ready to pay compensation at the rate of Rs 10,000 per sq. yard and offered Rs 225,000,00 to Mosque Trust as compensation as well as for construction of new mosque as per desire of area residents.
Applicant counsel Shaukat Ali Shaikh rejecting CDGK offer stated that mosque, Madressah and shrine of Syed Kifayat Ali Shah was constructed on leased plot after taking NOC by Deputy Commissioner in 1969.
He stated that the said mosque and other construction could be saved after minor amendment in LEW project. He said residents of PIB Colony would have faced difficulties, as this was only mosque in said area. He stated that an out of court agreement was also made between Masjid Qadri Trust and Project Director LEW under which CDGK would provide alternate land for the mosque.
