Most of the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) were delivering positive results and more than 6000 NGOs are active in the fields of health, education and social welfare. Advisor to Chief Minister and Chairperson Social Services Board, Punjab, Ms Saba Sadiq, stated.
While addressing the "Capacity Building Workshop" on monitoring, evaluation and advocacy of NGOs, here on Tuesday. Saba Sadiq disclosed that directory of NGOs in Punjab would be printed soon for the information of the concerned departments and public. 'No government can alone fulfil the requirements of the public and welfare organisations have to help the functionaries.
In the recent years, Punjab government has also taken big initiatives in the field of Social Welfare and according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, heavy funds have been allocated in the fiscal year 2007-08 which would help introduce reforms in the social welfare sector in the Punjab province, she added.
