South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marince Engineering Co Ltd said on Sunday it expects to win a combined $410 million in new orders to build six container ships for two European companies. "We will sign the deals within this month," a Daewoo spokesman told Reuters by telephone, declining to provide the names of the buyers.
Daewoo has won a total of $9.2 billion worth of orders so far this year, according to the company. On Friday, Daewoo said it has signed a $424 million deal to build three very large crude carriers (VLCC) for an unidentified European company. Shares in Daewoo closed up 3.42 percent at 49,900 won, outperforming a 1.3 percent fall in the broader market on Friday.
