Indian share prices rose 0.14 percent on Monday in cautious trade, as global markets turned weak ahead of a monetary policy meeting of the US Federal Reserve on Wednesday, dealers said. They said software and automobile stocks fell on a sell-off.
The 30-share Sensex index rose 20.36 points to 14,487.72. "Investors chose not to build up huge positions ahead of the US Fed meeting. Funds will track global market trends," said Advait Date, a dealer with brokerage BHH Securities. The US Federal Reserve starts a two-day meeting June 27.
