Sindh Information Technology (IT) Department in collaboration with the provincial Health Department is in process to activate a network of tele-medicine.
Advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister for Information Technology Noman Saigol here on Wednesday said Electronic Medicine (E-Medicine) technology would soon be available in all 23 districts of the province.
This, he hoped, would help patients to avail updated medical facilities without additional expenses and difficulties. The advisor, who was chairing a meeting, was informed by the concerned officials that streamlining of tele-medicine would particularly help patients based in remote areas of the province.
Tele-medicine Project Director Mohammad Yousuf said that with the inception of the program, the issue of non-availability of experts could be efficiently addressed.
"This will be besides the facts that diagnostic facilities as well as proper treatment options would be available to the masses at facilities closely located to their place of residence," he said.
Noman Saigol advised the officials, associated with E-Health Project, to ensure early completion of the scheme and said the Sindh IT Department would make all out efforts to turn the technology largely beneficial for the masses.
"Information Technology Department would ensure utilising its the modern technology to bring Sindh healthcare services at par with international standards," he said.
The Advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister on the occasion also directed the Project Director of E-Health to incorporate consultancy with specialists and efficient diagnostic services among its top priorities.
The project director was further advised to link the EDO - Health Offices, scattered across different districts, with all major hospitals of the province through the centralised communication system.
On the occasion, he also reviewed different ongoing project of IT Department and expressed his firm belief that completion of the same would lead to a new era of digital progress in the province. The meeting among others was also attended by Sindh Secretary for IT Zakir Hussain and other senior officials.
