The NWFP allocated Rs 6.039 billion for the 94 ongoing and 29 new development schemes for the early expansion, renovation and development of Peshawar city.
Briefing the journalists about the development on Saturday, NWFP Minister for Information, Asif Iqbal Daudzai said that the provincial government had allocated Rs 70 millions for the upgradation of the 21 primary and middle schools in the district. He said they had focused on education sector since coming into power.
Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Haj and president of JUI-F Peshawar, Maulana Amanullah Haqqani and Nazim City District Peshawar Haji Ghulam Ali were also present on the occasion.
Giving details of the ongoing schemes, Mr Daudzai said an amount of Rs 160 million had been allocated for the construction of a new building for the Government Girls College Gulshan Rehman Colony, Peshawar and a multi-storey building of Educational Complex in the city.
He said that another huge amount of Rs 620 million had been sanctioned for the construction of a new services hospital, Khyber institute of child health, Peshawar institute of cardiology phase ii, Khyber medical university, women children hospital and other under-construction projects in the district.
Mr Daudzai said Rs 76.83 had been allocated for five ongoing drinking water schemes and an amount of Rs 174 million had been earmarked for the construction and widening of various link roads.
He said a huge amount of Rs 1.870 billion had been allocated for the construction of parking near civil secretariat, additional court rooms in Peshawar High Court, improvement of the provincial assembly building, construction of central police office, construction of flats, feasibility and design of central prison, construction of patwarkhana, construction of judicial lodges at Race Course and houses in Hayatabad.
Similarly, he said Rs 772.574 million would be spent on improvement and construction of seven roads, while Rs 310 would be spent on five-agriculture related schemes.
He said Peshawar's heritage would be preserved for which Rs 147 million had been allocated for the ongoing schemes at Qissakhwani, Gor Gathri and Sethi Mohallah, Peshawar.
He said Rs 24.172 million would be spent on the construction and reconstruction three mosques. He said Rs 369.929 million had been allocated for the nine new schemes aiming at providing more health facilities to the citizens while Rs 52 million had been saved for new drinking water schemes.
