Central Secretary Finance PML-N Mohammad Pervaiz Malik, MNA, has said that setting new tradition of sending references against member assemblies on political feuds would open ways to un-ending references and thus damage the parliament structure.
The PML-N leader said here Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) being part of ARD was an important party of united opposition. As such proceeding against PTI Chief would be considered against the entire opposition creating sharp gulf between the government and opposition parties.
He was of the view that reference against PTI Chief Imran Khan has been sent at a moment when the Election Commission (EC) is making preparations for the new elections and thus the government has posed a new challenge to the EC.
'If the EC decides in favour of the government, its impartiality can be questioned while the impression that the next elections will be impartial and fair would also be dispelled', he opined.
He was of the view that reference is like stoning others while sitting in a house of mirrors. A reference based on decades ago controversial accusations is prejudicial to the rules of games and an insult to the electorate. The government had been silent for the past five years and now thought to send the reference on political disputes surfacing after May 12 incident.
