Punjab chief minister inaugurates new train between Lahore and Mianwali
Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi inaugurated a new passenger train service at the Lahore Railways Station here on Wednesday. The new train "Mianwali Non-Stop Express" left for Mianwali at 10:00pm and will reach at Mianwali at 5.45am on Thursday.
While addressing the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that more bullet trains and fast trains would be launched throughout the country very soon and more facilities would be provided to the employees of Pakistan Railways because they were the real strength and asset of Pakistan Railways.
He appreciated the services of the Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad which he did for the betterment of the department as well as for the officers and workers. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi further said that Pakistan Railways would be modernised in accordance with the demands of the present era. Passengers would be provided facilities of the international standard.
Federal Minister for Railways while speaking on the occasion said, "It is my ardent desire that people of Pakistan travel via trains during nights just like European countries" and that time is not far now when people would work at day time and would happily travel at night time, he maintained. He said that Pakistan Railways indented to provide extra ordinary travelling facilities to the masses.
That is why we are focusing on far flung areas where people are deprived of the travelling facilities, he pointed out. He said that Railways had started Pakistan Express from Rawalpindi to Karachi, which was the cheapest train in the history of Pakistan.
Passengers have to pay only 600 rupees for the longest rail route and the earning figure of the said train is highest as compared to all other trains, he added. He said that during the last ten years, even a single penny was not paid to the Railways Administration for the improvement of the department and now the billions rupees had been spent on it.
