Entire city will be illuminated and decorated with colourful buntings, national and party flags on June 22 and 23 on the arrival of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Chief Justice Chaudhry will be accorded a historic reception when he arrives here to address the lawyers in the bar hall of HCBA Multan on June 23 by road from Lahore.
He will also be warmly accorded in Pattoki, Okara, Renala Khurd, Sahiwal, Chichawatni, Mian Chunnu, Khanewal and Qadarpur Raan, said Mirza Aziz Akbar Baig Vice President of Pakistan Bar Council.
It is expected that caravan of chief Justice will reach Multan at 0200 0r 0300 am on June 24. The lawyer of south Punjab and various political parties have finalised arrangements to receive the CJP on his arrival here in a befitting manner. The office bearers of the HCBA finalised the welcome programme.
HCBA Multan President Habibullah Shakir and General Secretary Rana Naveed said all the arrangements had been made to accord a historic welcome to the CJP on his arrival here.
The political parties have also finalised the arrangements for a warm reception of the CJP. A meeting of PPP Punjab was held here with Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the chair to finalise the reception. He said that his party workers would fully participate in the reception of the CJP. PPP caravan will be led by Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pakistan Muslim League-N procession will be led by Sardar Zulfikar Ali Khosa, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan caravan will lead by Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori, Tehrik-i-Insaf caravan by Major Mujib Ahmed Khan (Retd), Muhammad Younas Ghazi, JUI by Khurshid Abbas Gardezi, Pakistan Democratic Party caravan will be led by Nawabzada Mansoor Ahmed Khan its chief, Pakistan Seraiki Party led by Barrister Taj Muhammad Khan Langah its chief, Traders Alliance led by its central Chairman Khawaja Muhammad Shafiq, More than 100 organisations of traders, industrialists, shopkeepers. Prominent among those who addressed the meeting were Hashim Khan Babar, Dr Akhtar Malik, Mian Ajmal Marral, Kanwar Zahid Ahmed Khan, Saeed Moni, AD Baloc, Syed Irum Abbas Shah, Nadeem Pasha advocate and others.
They claimed that the PPP would play an important role in making the CJP's reception historic on his arrival here. They expressed solidarity with the lawyers and said the movement would continue till the restoration of the CJP, independence of the judiciary and the supremacy of the Constitution.
At another meeting, the office bearers of Pakistan Seraiki Party (PSP) finalised their programme to receive the CJP. The meeting of the PSP held here with Syed Hassan Raze Bokhari in the chair, expressed solidarity with the lawyers. Speaking on this occasion, Bokhari said he saluted the lawyers on their movement for the supremacy of the Constitution. He formed a committee to recieve the CJP on his arrival here on June 23.
Syed Azhar Shah Bokhari is the president of the committee while Haji Ahmed Nawaz Soomro, Khalid Samija advocate, Malik Liaquat Ali advocate, Shoaib Nawaz Baloch, Malik Imran advocate and others are its members.
