The gigantic expansion project to set up 4000 more utility store across the country would be kicked-off from June 24 (Sunday), Managing Director Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan, Brigadier Hafeez Ahmed (Retd) said.
The ambitious project imperative to control price hike would be completed by November 30 in three phases, private channel reported. He said 1000 outlets would be established in the first phase from June 24 to July 30, 2007. 1500 stores would be opened in the second phase from August 1 to September 30, while remaining 1500 stores would be set up by November 30, 2007.
There are 6000 union councils in the country. Each and every union council of the country would be covered during the current financial year. The target areas would be far-flung rural localities and colonies mostly inhabited by the poor, he said. There would be 53 distribution centres across the country for ensuring prompt delivery of items, he added.
