The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has termed the increase in air travel tax in the federal budget as crippling blow to the tourism industry.
According to a press release issued here on Tuesday Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Hajj and Umrah said that the exorbitant increase of Rs 1,700 in the tax on foreign air travel would have a detrimental impact on the progress of the tourism industry, as it would not only discourage Pakistani travelling abroad but also foreigners visiting the country.
The FPCCI appealed to the government to immediately withdraw the increase and make a comprehensive strategy to promote local and international tourism in the country.-PR
