A large number of Punjab police men on Tuesday protested over the sudden death of their colleague due to lack of timely medical aid as his request for leave was turned down. According to the Punjab police officials, constable Mohammad Hussain was not feeling well and asked for leave which was turned down assuming it was an excuse to bunk his duty.
On Monday night the constable expired due to excessive bleeding and vomiting, which provoked the Punjab police deputed in the federal capital for handling the Lal Mosque issue four months earlier.
A clash between Islamabad police and personnel of Punjab police took place at Aabpara Chowk where the latter protested by burning tyres. A police personnel also fainted due to beating of furious personnel of Punjab police. The protesting policemen demanded Punjab Police SP Asharraf's removal. He is the person who showed irresponsible behaviour which took a life a young cop.
Senior officers of law enforcement agencies arrived on the spot and defused the tension by promising to take serious action against the responsible SP and registered an FIR in Aabpara police station against him. Punjab Police and Islamabad police announced to give Rs 500,000 each to the deceased constable.
