Withholding tax reduction: CBR to consider CNG body's recommendation
Chairman, All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA), Sindh zone, Junaid Makda has said the Chairman, Central Board of Revenue (CBR) Abdullah Yousif has agreed to consider association's recommendation of reducing withholding tax from 6 percent to 4 percent.
Talking to newsmen, he said after three days negotiation with the Chairman CBR and Chief of Income Tax CBR they have agreed to examine possibilities of reducing withholding tax.
He said the association proposed reduction of withholding tax from 6 percent to 3.5 percent whereas Chairman has agreed to consider reducing it from 6 percent to 4 percent. He said the chairman CBR assured that he would soon forward his recommendation to National Assembly who has the power to amend budget 2007-08 proposals.
He said in the bingeing the association was not prepare to accept withholding tax as members of the association have been paying 15 percent General Sales Tax (GST). At present CNG dealers paying 24 percent tax including 9 percent value addition tax, he added.
