Multan High Court Bar vehemently condemned the incident of attack of some unidentified gunmen who barged into the residence of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry's nephew Rana Amir on Saturday night apparently looking to target him.
Speaking at a Press conference, Habib-ullah Shakir President, Rana Naveed Akhtar, General Secretary said that Rana Amir's family was being continuously threatened after March 9 and telephone calls from unknown people were being received. One of such callers introduced himself as 'Brigadier Zulfikar' who occasionally gave him threats and sometimes talked of bargaining.
'He often asks Amir to call and advise 'him' as whatever was happening was not good,' said Bar officers. Bar office-bearers expressed sympathy with Rana Amir on phone and exchanged views on phone. During conversation, he also disclosed that the incident that happened in his house looked like a commando action led by an officer. He also said that it was an incident similar to that at the house of Hammad Raza, the Additional Registrar.
