Qasim Zia, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly while castigating the provincial government in handling of law and order situation criticised the provincial government for failing to curb constantly rising chart of crime in the province.
Dwelling on economic aspects of the Budget, he said it was jugglery of words by the people at helm of affairs. The Leader of Opposition criticised the government for not taking its share of Rs 14 billion of Ghazi Barotha Dam and said that other provinces had taken their share in this regard.
Speaking during the 'General Discussion' on proposed 2007-08 budget of province of Punjab in the Provincial Assembly that commenced 3:00pm on Sunday, with Speaker Muhammad Afzal Sahi in chair, he also put question on Treasury to explain its funding of Annual Development Fund to the tune of RS 53 billion of which he said out of total out lay of Rs100 billion only Rs47 billion had been utilised.
He also pointed that provincial government had decreased financial allocation of Local Bodies in the next year's proposed budget. The Opposition leader further speaking about law and order situation said that workers of opposition parties were still being harassed by the police. Lamenting performance of the government in the present fiscal year, he said crime of graph had gone high, which depicts of real state of things here.
