Population issues: public-private partnership being encouraged
Ministry of Population Welfare was endeavouring to encourage public-private partnership to create awareness about population-related issues, a source in the ministry said on Sunday.
The official said that several agreements had been signed with organisations under the particular project aimed at educating workers of these institutions about matters regarding population welfare.
The official added that due to concerted efforts of the ministry, population growth rate, which had been brought down to 1.8 percent, was also indicated by the National Institute of Population Survey.
Given the positive results of the ministry's projects, the official said the target to bring this rate to 1.3 percent by the year 2020 would also be achieved.
He said success of population welfare programmes could be realised from the fact that now people talk about these programmes and adopt measures to control birth rates.
He said that each segment of the society should come forward and join hands with the government to create awareness about population-related issues to provide quality life to masses.
