A six-day training workshop for University and college teachers on 'Contemporary Research Methods' organised by the Faculty of Education, University of Sindh, in collaboration with Leaning Innovation Division (LID) of Higher Education Commission( HEC) concluded on Saturday.
The concluding ceremony of the workshop which was organised at the Elsa Kazi Campus, Hyderabad, was presided over by SU Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui while HEC (Sports) Director-General Talat Khursheed was the chief guest and Muhammad Zaki an other representatives of HEC was the guest of honour.
Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, in his presidential remarks, underlined the need for the training of teachers for generating and learning of new knowledge. He said that in the present 21st Century compared to previous decade every decade has generated double knowledge.
He pointed out that every where in the world it is realised that teacher is key for the knowledge generation and promotion of the knowledge among the youth.
He expressed hope that the youth while realising importance of the new knowledge for the education should play vital role in learning and transforming of new knowledge. He said that the objective of the quality of education is helping the society for the benefit of the people of the society.
He advised the faculty of education to prepare more projects related to teachers training for the training of the teachers from the university as well as colleges.
He appreciated efforts of the Education Faculty and also collaboration offered by the Higher Education Commission for organising workshop on different important topics.
Talat Khursheed said that quality of education depends on the quality of teachers. He said that HEC has been putting its all efforts to improve the quality of teachers in the universities through higher education and training.
He said that teachers must frequently visit the HEC website for learning of new programmes. He appreciated efforts of the University of Sindh for organising continuous training programmes for the teachers from the university as well as affiliated colleges.
Another representative of HEC Muhammad Zaki said that learning Innovation Division of the Higher Education Commission has been facilitating to the public sector universities for the improvement in the quality of education.
Dean Faculty of Education and Coordinator of the Workshop Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar highlighted details of proceedings of the six-day workshop. He said that the teachers during training attended all sessions with interest.
He said that SU Faculty of Education is planning to organise more training workshops for the university and college teachers. He expressed thanks to SU and HEC authorities for their cooperation in organising of the workshops.
The participants of the workshop expressed their satisfaction on the proceedings of the workshop. They said that during workshop every resource person puts his best towards research methods with every aspect of the research work.
They called for more workshops for the teachers of the universities all over country for training and interaction between the teachers.
The SU vice-chancellor and the representatives of the HEC on this occasion distributed the appreciation certificates among the participating teachers.
