District Price Control Committee Rawalpindi has imposed Rs80,000 fine to almost 800 shopkeepers, besides sending three of them to jail. The officials of price control committee visited the weekly Sunday bazaar and during checking found 800 shopkeepers involved in overcharging as well as hoarding.
The committee arrested three shopkeepers for hoarding and later they were sent to jail. The raids were conducted under the supervision of Chairman of the committee, Haji Mohammad Jamal and Administrator Market Committee.
Haji Jamal said the hoarders had established their godowns on first floor to illegally store the necessary items. During the grand operation, the committee warned the godown owners to avert hoarding otherwise strict legal action would be taken against them.
