Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday categorically stated that there would be no change in the PML (Q) top office-bearers. "Mushahid Hussain and I have won these slots through proper election within the party and no change is taking place for these offices," he told media in the Parliament House.
"We are not pawns that anybody can change our positions," he added. To a question, he dispelled the impression of dissolving assemblies after passage of the budget. "The assemblies would complete their tenure and elections are expected to be held in January next year," he added.
Asked if the Supreme Court decisions would affect the elections, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said: "Courts are independent in their function. Whatever decision the courts make, it would be acceptable."
President Pervez Musharraf had also repeatedly stated it, Shujaat said. The PML (Q) President rejected the impression that he had held meeting with Richard Boucher, and said: "I did not even see him." He said the government and the PML (Q) were going in right direction. "We are going in right direction. Our focus is the same."
