'Pakistan and Nepal should utilise tourism potential': CPNE team arrives in Nepal
The Nepalese Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation H.E. Gurung Prithvi Subba Gurung said here on Saturday morning that Nepal and Pakistan must cooperate in the Toursim field at the bilateral and with in the SAARC level because both countries need to utilise their tourism potential to the maximum.
He was addressing an interaction meeting on tourism with relation to Nepal and co-operation with Pakistan organised by the Nepalese Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries, the Nepalese Tourism Board and the National Network of Weekly and Fortnightly Newspapers of Nepal.
Minister H.E. Gurung observed that Nepal, who undergoing a transition phase but the security in the country had improved and tourism had been very successful though it was now the close of the tourism season in Nepal. He called upon Pakistanis to avail of the immense opportunities that Nepal offers in the tourism field and thus promote interaction and closer friendship between the two nations.
Chairman of the Nepal Tourism Board Subas Nirullah welcoming the CPNE editors delegation from Pakistan, stressed the common endeavour of both nations to promote specially Mountain tourism with the Hemalayas and the Karakorrums, with the highest mountain peak Everest in Nepal and the second highest K2 in Pakistan, as important factors in attracting tourists. He looked forward to closer collaboration with Pakistan in the tourism field.
Pakistan ambassador H.E. Sohail Amin speaking at the high-level interaction forum on Nepali and Pakistani tourism said that he welcomed the Pakistan CPNE delegation to Nepal. He said that avenues for co-operation between Pakistan and Nepal in the tourism field were immense and now the required impetus was being provided by both governments to capitalise on these opportunities.
He also highlighted the other different measures undertaken to promote closer ties between the two SAARC nations and looked forward to healthy growth of mutually advantageous ties in the days ahead between Pakistan and Nepal.
A very exhaustive paper prepared by two leading researchers Dr Rudra Upadhyay and Ramesh C. Arya, both Ph.Ds, highlighted the immense potential of Nepal-Pakistan bilateral co-operation in tourism and cultural exchange.
The CPNE President Syed Fasieh Iqbal thanked the Tourism and Aviation Minister P.S. Gurung, Pakistan Ambassador Sohail Amin and the Nepal Tourism Board Chairman for the welcome accorded to the CPNE Editors delegation from Pakistan.
He assured that Pakistani newspaper editors shall give greater coverage of Pak-Nepal ties and highlight avenues of co-operation so that maximum bilateral co-operation emerges. He assured that the media in Pakistan was always in support of Nepal and lauded its role in SAARC and the UN.
He said his editor colleagues will help in projecting a better and positive image of Nepal and its potential in Pakistani newspapers. On the occasion Mahmudul Aziz, Managing Director of the UPP/PNR also presented Rajendra Upacharak, the Editor-in-Chief of the Nepalese Daily Vimarsh, copy of his book titled Press Freedom and Role of Newspaper Editors in Pakistan, which he accepted with thanks.
