The Met Office has predict beginning of monsoon rains by end June, according to Director General Meteorological Department Dr Qamar Zaman. He told PTV in an interview that normal monsoon rains are expected in the country but some eastern parts in Sindh and Punjab provinces may receive more than normal rains.
The DG said that regular monsoon season may start during the last week of June or by the first week of July. He said that decreasing trends have started in the temperature following scattered showers in various parts of the country and these trends are expected to prevail during the month of June.
The Met DG said that extreme temperatures were recorded in various part of country during the past few days but now the mercury has started to descend and the temperature would not clime to extreme high in the remaining summer season. He however said that due to increase of moisture in the air the heat index may rise in the coming days. Presently the moisture level in the air is 53 percent and heat index has raised up to 51.
